VOYAGE DANS LE TEMPS 2022, MOULIN-A-VENT 90/100
The 2022 Moulin-à-Vent Voyage Dans le Temps, aged in a 500-liter barrel, takes an opulent approach with flavors of just-ripe black cherries, licorice, vanilla and oak spices, picking up livening notes of black pepper along the palate. It's medium to full-bodied with a jammy consistency of fruit, textured with grainy tannins built into the flesh of the wine. The finish is slightly rustic, with drying tannins and less flesh for cushion.
MOULIN-A-VENT VIEILLES VIGNES 90/100
The 2022 Moulin-à-Vent Vieilles Vignes has a traditional approach but with an added boost of vibrancy. The nose opens with aromas of fresh-bloomed petals, Bing cherries, candied peel, dried herbs and sandalwood. On the palate, the wine offers a layered, medium to full body, with well-concentrated flavors and fine-grained tannins, embedding a velveteen mouthfeel, moving along the palate in gentle suspension.

The 2022 Saint-Amour Arbre de Vie Terroir de Besset, aged for 10 months in used barrels, offers up gourmand notes of sappy cherries, blackberries, white petals, candied peel and vine smoke. On the palate, the wine offers a supple-fruited core lined with bright acidity, though the tannins draw attention away with its blocky structure, imparting pangs of astringency. Having just been bottled 10 days before tasting, it was certainly a bit closed, though off to a nice start. I will see to retaste it after a year in bottle.

The 2021 Moulin-à-Vent Voyage Dans le Temps jumps out of the glass with aromas of juicy blueberries, currants, oak leaf and baking spices. The most powerful of the 2021 lineup, the medium to full-bodied wine offers a velvety, blue-fruited core entwined with a structuring of fine-grained tannins that graze the cheeks, accumulating tension and light salinity for a mouthwatering finish.
MOULIN-A-VENT VIEILLES VIGNES 2021, 89-90/100
Aromas of tart raspberries, cherries, baking spices and rose petals introduce the 2021 Moulin-à-Vent Vieilles Vignes, a medium to full-bodied and energetic wine. On the palate, the wine is guided by bright acids and chalky tannins that pave a linear path for the layer of silky red fruits to rest upon. The wine is still quite tightly wound and will perhaps take another few years to settle in.

The wine is woven together with a lining of powdery tannins and ripe acidity, guiding an uplifted mouthfeel, finishing with an enjoyable draw of flavor.

VOYAGE DANS LE TEMPS 2020, MOULIN-A-VENT ***** (5 étoiles)
Een van de crus in de Beaujolais die het hardst aan de weg timmert, is zonder twijfel Moulin-à-Vent. Sinds enige jaren is hier de focus gericht op de losse wijngaar-den, met in totaal 69 gedefi-nieerde lieux-dits, aparte per-celen. In april zal aan het INAO een voorstel worden gedaan voor een classifica-tie, met de mogelijke promo-tie van de beste wijngaarden tot premiers crus. Deze bij-zondere Moulin-a-Vent is ge-maakt als een Bourgogne,met een vatrijping van tien maanden. Hij wordt gemaakt in een oplage van 1300 fles-sen, van een bijzonder per-ceel van 0,3 hectare. Een bij-zonder glas, rokerig, kruidig,vol, met een lichte ontwikke-ling; zwoel, krachtig en sap-pig, met een mooie stevig-heid en goede tannine.
