Windmill old vines 2020 

 

The estate's vines grow in the commune of Chénas. Enough to give this wine structure and subtlety. From the first aromas, black fruits, pepper and truffle make up a rich bouquet that is found in a creamy, full and fleshy substance. A vintage perfectly suited to laying down.

C'est sur la commune de Chénas que poussent les vignes du domaine. De quoi assurer à ce vin structure et subtilité. Dès les premiers arômes, les fruits noirs, le poivre et la truffe composent un bouquet riche qui se retrouve dans une matière onctueuse, ample et charnue. Un millésime parfaitement adapté à la garde.

My Father's Secret 2020 :91/100

Vibrant black-cherry and violet aromas pour from the glass of this ripe and energetic Julienas that builds impressively as it shoots over the palate. Although this has a lot of charm, the long finish is still a bit tight and tannic. More bottle age should harmonize this further. Drink or hold.

Tree of life 2020:91/100 

A sleek and focused Saint Amour that eschews the lavish fruit of many examples in favor of herbal freshness and discreet red-berry notes. Racy and precise finish that has so much energy! From the granitic part of this appellation. Drink or hold.

Time Travel 2020:91/100

This manages to marry the red-berry charm that so many consumers associate with Beaujolais, together with some gentle but positive tannins that build nicely on the finish. Still a few rough edges (possibly from stems) that a bit more time in bottle should smooth out, but this has plenty of character. Drinkable now, but best from 2023.

Tons of black-cherry and violet aromas, but behind them are some healthy tannins that give this medium-bodied Moulin-a-Vent some warmth and good length. Moderately dry finish. Drink or hold

This wine reconciles the seduction and the saline depth of the cru. It delivers a beguiling nose on the fruit coulis, quality, patinated tannins and a warm stone tone on the finish.

Julienas old vines 2019:90/100 

This cuvée delivers a fine vegetal character, with a chubby roundness typical of the vintage and a good length. The tannins are made finely catchy by a mineral sensation.

Tree of life 2019:88/100

Still marked by its aging in barrels, the nose distils aromas of coffee cream, soot and black forest. The mouth is structured with a tannin supported by the wood. Good length.

This wood-aged wine celebrates the timelessness of harvest. With ripe tannins and dense black fruits, the wine makes a powerful statement and will age. Drink from 2024.

Tree of life 2020:92/100

From selected parcels planted on granite and quartz, this wine is textured with minerality. Its tannins and ripe black fruits are still developing. The wine will be ready from 2023.

Vines close to Moulin-à-Vent's only windmill offer a structured wine. It densely layers black-cherry fruit, spice and ripe tannins. Drink this wine from 2023.
